About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Architect and build the technical foundations of Amplify’s next-generation Design System
Develop reusable component libraries, design tokens, and frontend infrastructure across Amplify products
Partner with Design, Product, and Engineering leads to align technical strategy and implementation approaches
Build stakeholder relationships, identify dependencies, navigate competing requirements, and communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs
Lead cross-team technical discussions and drive Design System adoption without direct reporting authority
Translate design standards and component contracts into scalable, maintainable, and accessible implementations
Establish engineering standards, implementation patterns, and code quality practices
Maintain repositories, component documentation, release processes, and contribution workflows
Explore and implement AI-assisted development workflows for component development, testing, and documentation
Provide technical mentorship, architectural guidance, and code review support
Establish and lead technical governance processes balancing shared standards with product-specific requirements and business needs

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of relevant work experience
Fluency in modern React, TypeScript, and JavaScript
Fluency in semantic HTML, CSS, and responsive design
Fluency in design systems architecture, reusable UI components, and design tokens
Fluency in Figma for design-to-code workflows
Fluency in Git and collaborative software development
Fluency in frontend build tools, component packaging, and testing
Fluency in web accessibility standards (WCAG) and accessible interaction patterns
Fluency in scalable frontend architecture across multiple applications and technology stacks
Body of work demonstrating polished user interfaces, responsive layouts, and web apps, including some React examples
Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives
Experience influencing engineering decisions across teams
Experience managing stakeholders with competing priorities
Ability to travel to headquarters in New York for in-person onboarding or periodically during employment, if required
Legally authorized to work in the United States
