About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform failure analysis and root cause studies of premature component failures
- Formulate actions necessary to match component reliability
- Perform on-site commissioning of D-VAR, PQ-IVR systems, inverter components, and control electronics for domestic and international customers
- Train customers in operating and maintenance practices
- Assist Engineering and Manufacturing with factory testing of new units
- Modify documentation for customer units, including schematics, user manuals, and safety practices
- Specify, review, and implement specialized maintenance procedures for field installations
- Monitor customer units, foresee problems, and develop solutions
- Interact with customer representatives to resolve problems remotely
- Travel to customer sites as necessary to maintain reliability
- Provide written communications regarding customer units
- Produce, distribute, and maintain service reports after on-site visits
- Maintain files and write monthly reports for each unit
- Produce and distribute weekly reports to AMSC management on field service activities
- Perform trend analysis of the field service database
- Carry a Field Service pager 20% of the time
- Schedule startup and commissioning activities to maintain product delivery commitments
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Technical or Engineering degree
- Electrical Engineering preferred
- 1–3 years’ experience in an electrical power, electronics environment, and communication systems
- Experience can be substituted for educational requirements
- Working knowledge of electrical power circuits
- Working knowledge of power electronics
- Ability to read schematics
- Computer knowledge in a Windows environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work both in teams and independently
- Basic knowledge of NEC and IEEE standards for electrical installations
- Medium voltage safety training required or must be completed prior to field assignments
- Ability to perform medium work with occasional heavy work up to 75 pounds
