About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Qualify, assess, and continuously monitor suppliers of critical hydro components
Conduct QMS, process, and product audits at manufacturing facilities worldwide, including ISO 9001 gap assessments
Define, develop, and enforce project and Supplier Quality Plans, ITPs, and FAI requirements
Evaluate and approve supplier quality documentation packages
Track closure of SCARs and monitor supplier quality KPIs
Act as quality focal point for assigned hydro projects from contract award through equipment commissioning
Review and approve Project Quality Plans and quality deliverables against contract requirements and IEC, ASME, EN, and ISO standards
Coordinate and witness Third-Party Inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests
Manage NCRs, deviation requests, and waivers; assess technical impact and root causes
Interface with customers on quality matters, including site inspections and quality hold points
Maintain the Division Quality Management System in compliance with ISO 9001
Analyze quality data and trends and drive corrective action processes using 8D, Ishikawa, and 5-Why
Participate in design reviews and FMEA risk assessments
Mentor junior quality engineers and support quality training initiatives
Drive lessons learned and support quality resource and budget planning
Serve as subject matter expert for welding, painting, and high-precision machining

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related discipline
Seven (7) to Ten (10) years of progressive quality engineering experience in heavy industrial manufacturing — hydropower, power generation, turbomachinery, oil & gas, nuclear, or aerospace preferred
ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification — preferred
Ability to travel to supplier sites and project facilities worldwide (up to 40%)
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, IEC 60034, IEC 60041, ASME, EN 1090, and ASTM
Subject Matter Expert in Fabrication, Machining & Heavy Mechanical/Electrical Assembly
Experience in supplier quality management, global supply chain auditing, and corrective action management (SCAR, 8D, Ishikawa, 5-Why)
Understanding of large rotating equipment, pressure vessels, castings, forgings, and high voltage electrical equipment
Understanding of Quality Inspection, GD&T measurement, NDT techniques (UT, MT, PT), weld inspection, and dimensional verification
Strong technical writing skills for quality plans, inspection procedures, and NCR dispositions
CWI or NDT Level II/III certification is an asset
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is an asset
PMP certification is an asset
