About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Greet all customers and visitors entering the location lobby or approaching the drive-thru
- Process daily transactions, including receiving deposits, cashing checks, accepting loan payments, and disbursing cash
- Identify counterfeit currency
- Verify signatures, written and numerical amounts, and account funds before cashing checks and paying out money
- Explain, promote, and sell specialized products such as cashier’s checks and prepaid gift cards
- Exchange foreign currency
- Order bank cards and checks for customers
- Record all transactions promptly, accurately, and according to bank procedures
- Answer inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other bank products
- Assist customers with account errors or problems and provide account balances
- Balance currency, cash, and checks in the cash drawer daily
- Promote and maintain positive relations with contacts, customers, and potential customers
- May be responsible for bank openings and/or closings
- May be required to work the drive-thru
- May be required to float to other locations
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- One (1) year of teller experience required
- Customer service experience preferred
- Independence Bank Teller Certification required within 6 months
- Completion of Teller Fundamentals and Teller Level Up training within three (3) months
- Ability to work into a Saturday rotation
- Customer/client orientation
- Cash handling

- Ability to maintain confidential information
- May be required to float to other locations
- May require lifting up to 25 pounds
