About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and support product development teams in Blackboard’s next evolution
- Establish and optimize a new company operating system, tools, and processes
- Use artificial intelligence to improve software engineering productivity and value delivery
- Drive efficiency and automation across software engineering
- Partner with Product Management, Design, Security, and Cloud Operations
- Make product development systems decisions collaboratively with dependent leaders
- Build, develop, and restructure a global software engineering organization
- Lead organizational changes honestly and thoughtfully
- Support ISO 27001, SOC 2, FedRAMP, and GovRAMP audit and compliance requirements
- Work with Security and auditors to produce evidence as needed
- Travel occasionally
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience running a large software engineering team at scale and transforming its effectiveness
- Experience leveraging artificial intelligence and automation to build and deploy software on a global scale
- Experience driving cloud cost savings through frugal architecture principles and/or identifying savings opportunities
- Experience leading structural change while maintaining trust and retaining top performers
- Experience publishing service levels and using continuous feedback to drive improvement
- Global operating experience across time zones, works councils, regional employment norms, and data residency requirements
- Deep experience in EdTech, SaaS, or technology-enabled services
- Track record leading complex transformation initiatives and driving AI and automation programs is highly valued
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country where the role is based at the time of hire and maintain that authorization throughout employment
