About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own Blackboard’s global events strategy, calendar, prioritization framework, budget, and end-to-end execution
  • Translate GTM priorities into event programs supporting new logo acquisition, customer retention, adoption, and expansion
  • Build and maintain an events taxonomy and prioritization model based on pipeline potential, audience alignment, competitive presence, and past performance
  • Manage event spending, forecasting, ROI measurement, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and agency or contract staff engagements
  • Track cost-per-opportunity and cost-per-customer-engagement metrics and report budget variance to the VP, GTM Marketing
  • Own venue and vendor selection, registration infrastructure, booth and experience design, staffing, shipping, on-site coordination, and post-event wrap-up
  • Create scalable execution playbooks across event types and geographies
  • Direct local and contract staff as needed
  • Build pre-event outreach, registration campaigns, during-event engagement programming, and post-event follow-up sequences
  • Partner with Revenue Marketing on demand generation, account targeting, and pipeline creation
  • Work with Customer Marketing on nurture tracks tied to adoption, retention, and cross-sell outcomes
  • Align event communications with GTM positioning and PMM-approved messaging
  • Build operational relationships with Sales, CSMs, Sales Enablement, and Solution Engineering
  • Create event-specific enablement materials, target account lists, talking points, competitive context, and meeting scheduling infrastructure
  • Set event goals for pipeline, meetings, customer engagements, and new contacts
  • Maintain an events performance dashboard integrated with Salesforce and HubSpot where applicable
  • Conduct post-event debriefs and present performance and ROI analysis to marketing leadership
  • Coordinate with Marketing Operations on attribution, lead routing, and data capture

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8–10 years of event marketing experience
  • Track record of owning global events programs that contribute measurable pipeline
  • Experience building and managing events that generate new logo pipeline, ideally in Higher Education and/or Business & Government sectors
  • Familiarity with the Higher Ed market calendar, including EDUCAUSE, regional consortia, government technology conferences, and sector-specific convenings
  • Experience building structured working relationships with Sales, CSM, Sales Enablement, and Solution Engineering teams
  • Experience managing six- or seven-figure event budgets, negotiating vendor contracts, and reporting ROI to senior leadership
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple simultaneous events across geographies
  • Data-driven events measurement experience, including CRM pipeline tracking and structured post-mortems
  • Experience directing contract and local event staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience marketing to Higher Education and Business & Government audiences (preferred)
  • Familiarity with EdTech or SaaS competitive event landscapes (preferred)
  • Experience in centralized marketing after distributed or regional field marketing (preferred)
  • Experience integrating events into ABM programs (preferred)
  • Exposure to AI-assisted event tools (preferred)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country where the role is based
  • Must maintain work authorization for the duration of employment
