About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own Blackboard’s global events strategy, calendar, prioritization framework, budget, and execution infrastructure
  • Determine which conferences, owned events, and partner activations Blackboard invests in and align them to GTM objectives
  • Build event taxonomies distinguishing pipeline-generation events from retention and expansion events
  • Manage event budget, forecasting, ROI measurement, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and agency or contract staff engagements
  • Own event logistics, including venue and vendor selection, registration, booth and experience design, staffing, shipping, on-site coordination, and post-event wrap-up
  • Build scalable execution playbooks across event types and geographies
  • Direct local and contract staff as needed
  • Build pre-event outreach, registration campaigns, during-event engagement programming, and post-event follow-up sequences
  • Partner with Revenue Marketing on demand generation and account targeting
  • Work with Customer Marketing on post-event nurture tracks tied to adoption, retention, and cross-sell outcomes
  • Build operational relationships with Sales, CSMs, Sales Enablement, and Solution Engineering
  • Create event-specific Sales and CSM enablement materials and feedback loops
  • Set event goals for pipeline, meetings, customer engagements, and new contacts
  • Maintain an events performance dashboard integrated with Salesforce and HubSpot where applicable
  • Conduct post-event debriefs and present performance and ROI analysis to marketing leadership
  • Coordinate with PMM, Revenue Marketing, Customer Marketing, and Marketing Operations on positioning, attribution, lead routing, and data capture

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8–10 years of event marketing experience with a track record of owning global events programs that contribute measurable pipeline
  • Experience building and managing events that generate new logo pipeline, ideally in Higher Education and/or Business & Government sectors
  • Deep familiarity with the Higher Ed market calendar, including EDUCAUSE, regional consortia, government technology conferences, and sector-specific convenings
  • Ability to build and manage structured working relationships with Sales, CSM, Sales Enablement, and Solution Engineering teams
  • Experience managing six- or seven-figure events budgets, negotiating vendor contracts, and reporting ROI to senior leadership
  • Strong project management skills, including building playbooks and managing multiple simultaneous events across geographies
  • Data-driven events measurement experience, including CRM pipeline tracking and structured post-mortems
  • Experience directing contract and local event staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country where the role is based and maintain that authorization throughout employment
