About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the growth of Apex’s infrastructure services within the designated local market
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to expand relationships with municipal, utility, and public-sector clients
  • Leverage client relationships and market insight to establish Apex as a trusted regional partner
  • Collaborate with Divisional and Regional Leadership on infrastructure strategy
  • Advise municipal and utility clients on infrastructure priorities and funding mechanisms
  • Identify and pursue project opportunities, lead proposals, and manage interviews and negotiations
  • Drive cross-selling of environmental, construction, and compliance services
  • Represent Apex at professional associations, technical committees, and industry conferences
  • Oversee municipal infrastructure projects involving water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, or civil engineering
  • Ensure technical excellence, quality control, scope, schedule, and budget adherence
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and QA/QC oversight
  • Manage backlog, utilization, and profitability metrics
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers, project managers, and technical staff
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on client satisfaction and technical excellence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS or MS Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
  • 15+ years of experience in municipal infrastructure
  • Registered Professional Engineer preferred in MA
  • Demonstrated success developing new markets, securing key municipal clients, and achieving financial growth targets
  • Strong record of mentoring, team development, and leading cross-discipline project teams
  • Ability to work effectively with clients to drive growth and sustained performance through effective leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Desire to manage and mentor all levels of staff
