About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Mentor engineers on quality, including TDD and test design
- Define testing approaches for the squad across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing
- Build production-grade automation, testing tools, and test scripts
- Instrument and track quality metrics such as coverage, flakiness, test times, and defect rates
- Use data to prioritize quality improvements
- Use AI to generate tests, identify coverage gaps, and accelerate quality feedback loops
- Participate in on-call and incident response
- Troubleshoot production issues using logs, metrics, and observability tools
- Investigate services and infrastructure, identify or narrow root causes, perform operational actions, and escalate incidents
- Help engineers catch issues earlier through design, testability coaching, and fast feedback
- Lead quality initiatives for the squad and mentor engineers on testing practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3–5+ years as a software engineer or QA
- Strong programming skills and ability to write production-grade, maintainable code
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Dart
- Ability to quickly adapt to other languages for QA tooling
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining automated tests across web, API, and/or mobile
- Experience with tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Appium, Rest Assured, Playwright, Maestro, Patrol, or equivalent technologies
- Deep expertise in unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing strategies
- Proficiency with CI/CD, Jenkins pipelines, and GitHub Actions
- Familiarity with Java/Spring, Angular/Flutter, AWS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Datadog, Postman, Bruno, and JMeter
- Familiarity with on-call processes, production troubleshooting, logs, metrics, observability tools, mitigation actions, and incident escalation
- Experience using AI tools to generate test cases, identify edge cases, detect flaky tests, analyze coverage gaps, and prioritize testing
- Experience coaching engineers and changing team practices
- Ability to write clear documentation and runbooks
- Fluent in Spanish
- Working knowledge of English for cross-team collaboration
- Nice to have: fintech, payments, or high-reliability systems experience
- Nice to have: mobile, performance/load, contract/API testing, open-source, or mobile device farm experience
