About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise and direct a team of patient access representatives, providing guidance and training
- Manage patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, eligibility, pre-authorization, and out-of-pocket cost estimates
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, insurance requirements, privacy standards, and facility policies
- Evaluate and improve patient access processes, workflows, and technologies
- Implement best practices, standards, and quality metrics to monitor performance, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, administrators, and finance staff to achieve organizational goals and optimize patient outcomes
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and caregivers
- Provide reports to management, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies regarding patient access statistics, trends, and issues
- Complete charge reconciliation, late charge additions, and unfinalized billing review
- Review denials related to authorizations, eligibility, registration, and missing information
- Verify scheduled services have required authorizations
- Establish point-of-service collection goals for registration staff
- Resolve assigned tasks and account checks
- Assist hospital departments with adding and removing charges and claim resolution
- Work the return-to-client file assigned by Meduit
- Check and work mail
- Perform quality assurance checks of consent forms, cards, and insurance verification
- Work assigned PAD functions as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Patient Access or a related healthcare field required
- At least one (1) year of supervisory or management experience required
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, insurance requirements, privacy standards, and facility policies
- Understanding of governmental and private insurance guidelines
- Strong clinical knowledge with the ability to conduct chart reviews and communicate effectively with physicians and medical staff
- Experience utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems, practice management software, and patient data management tools
- Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and caregivers
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality assurance
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced healthcare environment
