About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead technical discussions, make architectural decisions, and guide an engineering team through AI-driven product initiatives
Design, implement, and optimize complex, scalable backend functionality using Java, Spring, and AWS
Own frontend delivery using TypeScript and Angular or React
Lead implementation of AI chatbot capabilities, data quality improvements, and dynamic reporting
Use and promote AI developer tools such as Cursor and Claude
Ensure code quality through unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
Conduct peer code reviews and solve performance-related challenges
Partner with Product Owners, UX/UI designers, and other engineering teams
Contribute to BigPicture, a cloud-based SaaS platform with over 100 modules and thousands of tenants
Report to the Engineering Manager and work cross-functionally with product, UX, and DevOps

Requirements

What you’ll need

Proven experience acting as a Tech Lead, driving technical direction, making architectural choices, and mentoring senior/mid-level engineers
Deep, practical knowledge of Java, Spring, Hibernate, and SQL
Strong understanding of SaaS architecture and extensive experience building/scaling applications in cloud environments, specifically AWS
Good hands-on skills in TypeScript and Angular or React, with willingness to develop fullstack features
High comfort level with AI technologies and proficiency with AI-assisted development practices, specifically Cursor and Copilot
Interest or background in implementing AI features, such as LLM integration and data indexing
Good understanding of SOLID principles and common design patterns
Proficiency in JUnit/Spock, Git, Maven, and Docker
Experience evolving and scaling established systems beyond greenfield projects
Ability to use profiling tools and write efficient code that performs well under load
Excellent communication in remote/hybrid environments using Slack, Zoom, and G Suite
Exceptional coaching, mentoring, and people development skills
