About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review and comment on supplier welding documentation to ensure that contractual requirements are addressed.
- Explain comments to suppliers to obtain welding documentation that complies with project requirements.
- Provide technical expertise to support quality and project teams across all product lines.
- Communicate with and support internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and authorities.
- Deliver and support internal welding-related training.
- Participate in supplier qualification activities.
- Eliminate non-value-added activities while ensuring the quality level required for nuclear projects.
- Participate in and organize root cause analyses of significant supplier nonconformities.
- Contribute to the organization’s continuous improvement initiatives.
- Harmonize practices between externally purchased products and internally manufactured products.
- Coach and develop internal resources.
- Ensure that lessons learned are incorporated.
- Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and report to senior management.
- Qualify suppliers through audits, compliance assessments, and development plans.
- Clarify requirements with suppliers during the tender, qualification, and execution phases.
- Review, comment on, and validate supplier technical documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier performance.
- Lead or support root cause analyses and corrective actions.
- Perform or supervise counterchecks related to special processes.
- Capture lessons learned and deliver training sessions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree, engineering degree, or equivalent.
- International Welding Engineer (IWE) or International Welding Technologist (IWT) certification.
- More than 4 years of experience in welding.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Ability to manage stress effectively.
- Strong expertise in at least one manufacturing process, such as casting, forging, welding, machining, metrology, NDT, or anticorrosion.
- For welding: IWE certification or equivalent preferred.
- For NDT: ISO 9712 or ASNT Level 2 certification in at least one method required.
- For anticorrosion: FROSIO certification is a plus.
- Experience in the nuclear or energy sector is highly valued.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and complex problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make clear technical decisions and communicate effectively with different audiences, including operations and management.
- Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Rigor, autonomy, and strong prioritization skills.
- Engineering degree or equivalent.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; French is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in inspection, quality, manufacturing, or methods engineering.
- Experience in complex industrial environments, such as heavy industry, energy, or nuclear, is preferred.
- Willingness to travel to supplier sites.
