Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute state-specific strategies and operating plans to achieve growth, profitability, retention, and market share objectives
  • Monitor assigned state performance, identify opportunities and risks, and recommend strategic actions
  • Evaluate rate needs, pricing indications, competitor activity, loss trends, regulatory considerations, and financial impacts
  • Analyze products, pricing, and profitability to develop and implement pricing strategies
  • Build product strategies supporting pricing and non-pricing decisions, product enhancements, coverages, forms, underwriting rules, rating variables, discounts, surcharges, and eligibility guidelines
  • Partner with senior management to define product requirements, implement changes, and introduce products to the marketplace
  • Manage Department of Insurance filings, filing strategies, documentation, objection responses, timelines, and regulator relationships
  • Ensure product changes comply with laws and regulations and maintain accurate documentation
  • Develop and maintain state-level business plans, forecasts, and strategic proposals
  • Monitor premium and expense performance, identify trends and variances, and recommend actions for profitable growth
  • Analyze internal and external data and translate findings into actionable recommendations
  • Partner with data analysts to identify reports, dashboards, and performance monitoring tools
  • Monitor market conditions, competitor actions, regulatory developments, and economic conditions
  • Conduct competitive analyses and market assessments and identify implications for product strategy
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Operations, IT, Sales & Marketing, Claims, Finance, Legal, and Actuarial to implement state actions, product changes, communications, and process improvements
  • Build credibility, drive alignment, and influence state, pricing, filing, and product priorities across departments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible property and casualty insurance experience preferred
  • Experience in Personal Lines product management, pricing, underwriting, actuarial, regulatory filings, finance, or business analysis preferred
  • Experience managing or supporting state-level insurance performance, rate indications, product changes, and Department of Insurance filings strongly preferred
  • Industry designations such as CPCU, API, AINS, or equivalent insurance coursework are a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Math, Actuarial Science, Insurance, or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of property and casualty insurance, Personal Lines products, pricing, regulatory filings, and state-specific insurance requirements
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial, actuarial, product, and operational data
  • Ability to develop business plans, forecasts, proposals, recommendations, and executive-level presentations
  • Strong understanding of premium, loss, expense, profitability, and growth drivers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex pricing, product, and regulatory concepts clearly
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, filings, and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, build strong working relationships, and influence outcomes without direct authority
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence by facilitating discussion, resolving competing priorities, securing stakeholder buy-in, and helping teams move from analysis to action
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to develop defensible business decisions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, adapt to change, and identify creative solutions to business challenges
