About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build major parts of Maynard, Arboreal Management’s AI-enabled property-management platform
  • Own architecture for technically difficult or high-risk systems
  • Turn rough product concepts and prototypes into reliable production software
  • Decide where engineering rigor is needed and where the team should move quickly
  • Establish standards for testing, deployment, observability, security, and reliability
  • Review and improve existing systems as Maynard grows
  • Work closely with the Product Engineer supporting approximately 200 internal users
  • Use modern AI development tools to increase engineering velocity
  • Continue writing substantial amounts of code
  • Work directly with the CEO on Maynard’s vision and roadmap
  • Build systems supporting leasing, property operations, communications, maintenance, document processing, reporting, and financial workflows

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience building and operating real production systems
  • Strong technical judgment about reliable, maintainable, and understandable software
  • Comfortable working across frontend, backend, infrastructure, data, and AI
  • Strong opinions, low ego, and a bias toward building
  • Comfortable working directly with a highly involved CEO
  • Ability to take ideas and run with them, push back on technical direction, and own production quality
  • Existing extensive use of AI in development workflows
  • Experience with JavaScript/Node.js, SvelteKit, Postgres, Azure, Cloudflare, third-party APIs, or equivalent transferable technology experience; exact stack experience is not required
  • No particular degree or pedigree required
  • Ability to work with the team in person regularly in Seattle
