About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage software developers and leads developing and maintaining web and mobile platforms and digital properties
- Provide direction and coaching to e-commerce services development teams throughout the project life cycle
- Attract, retain, and develop talent; establish career pathways through coaching, mentoring, goal setting, and assessment
- Inspire creativity and problem-solving
- Develop functional specifications and designs for complex new and existing applications
- Review team members’ designs and code with managers, colleagues, and architects
- Design, code, debug, and test unit-test solutions as required
- Partner with product management and software engineering managers on multi-year vision, strategy, technical roadmap, and backlog
- Execute code, requirements, metrics, risk, and software reliability analyses
- Conduct unit testing and quality assurance
- Perform performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, and automation
- Support, maintain, and document new and existing solutions
- Identify and evaluate new technologies
- Act as a technical escalation point for web developers and architects
- Ensure production application support coverage and participate in escalated incidents
- Improve Arc’teryx SDLC, project, and other methodologies
- Coordinate project resourcing with project and program managers
- Monitor team performance and direction against project scope, time, and budget
- Own technical design decisions affecting the e-commerce and web application platform
- Build and deliver maintainable, high-quality software for a best-in-class ecommerce experience
- Improve developer experience through team-building events, knowledge sharing, and other initiatives
- Contribute to the Engineering Guild and raise Arc’teryx’s technical bar
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years’ experience leading front end and back-end developers
- 5+ years’ development experience in an Agile/Scrum environment
- 7+ years’ experience in full-stack web development
- 4+ years’ experience with Adobe Commerce (Magento)
- Advanced knowledge and experience with back-end web technologies (PHP, Node, etc.), ERP systems and integrations, and database technologies (MSSQL, MySQL)
- Knowledge of front-end web technologies (JavaScript, React, NextJS, HTML, CSS, etc.)
- Experience with Jira or similar scrum tools
- Experience with Git or other source control tools
- Experience with CDN implementation and management
- Experience with Content Management Systems and Information Architecture
- Proactive identification of root causes and development of solutions
- Flexibility and adaptability when faced with ambiguity
- Ability to balance autonomy and collaboration
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and spoken English
- Passion for getting outside and living it
