About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead data management, analysis and reporting across the Learning Systems landscape
Manage data across Moodle and its plugins, Accipio, Zoom and PMA
Ensure data is accurate, reliable, accessible and fit for purpose
Identify and deliver data and process improvements
Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate requirements into practical technical solutions
Improve data quality and readiness
Strengthen system integrations
Develop dashboards and enhance reporting
Provide decision-makers with meaningful, timely and trusted information
Take ownership of complex data challenges and provide expert advice and recommendations
Lead multiple activities and projects with minimal guidance
Work with senior stakeholders, business analysts and technical teams to identify process gaps
Oversee implementation of data and process improvements
Promote adherence to data standards, reporting requirements and relevant policies
Identify and manage data risks
Develop business analysis tools and approaches
Improve consistency and efficiency across business analysis activities
Coordinate business analysis activities and foster collaboration and continuous improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need

Extensive experience in data analysis, data management and data quality, including data mapping, identifying process improvements and resolving complex data issues
Strong practical knowledge of learning systems, ideally Moodle but alternatives considered
Expert knowledge of business analysis methodologies and techniques, including requirements elicitation, stakeholder workshops, user stories, use cases and process mapping
Experience leading complex data analysis activities, translating business needs into technical requirements, evaluating solutions and providing evidence-based recommendations
Experience with testing methodologies, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail
Ability to draw meaningful insights from incomplete or conflicting data
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and negotiate outcomes with senior stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced IT or data environment
Ability to work independently and lead activities with minimal guidance
Ability to provide guidance, share expertise and promote consistent business analysis standards
Practical knowledge of data governance, legal and regulatory requirements, information security and GDPR
Strong practical knowledge of Moodle, its plugins and associated learning systems, ideally within higher education (desirable)
ITIL Foundation, Business Analysis or Project Management qualifications such as PRINCE2 or AgilePM (desirable)
Data-related qualifications or training in GDPR, information security or DLP (desirable)
Exposure to Azure, Fabric, AWS, TOGAF or change management frameworks (desirable)
Experience delivering data initiatives within Higher Education (desirable)
Experience working with IT architects to implement policies and standards (desirable)
Experience supporting strategic initiatives and engaging with senior stakeholders (desirable)
