About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead end-to-end asset capitalisation processes and ensure accurate, timely recognition of capital expenditure
  • Partner with Commercial Finance and software development teams to assess capital versus expense treatment
  • Oversee the project accounting lifecycle, including development assets, transfers, disposals, and depreciation
  • Review and approve capitalisation assessments for complex or non-standard transactions
  • Maintain the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of the fixed asset register and audit trails
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including capitalisation journals, reconciliations, and disclosures
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP requirements and internal controls
  • Lead fixed asset and capex audit engagements, provide documentation, and resolve queries
  • Partner with Procurement and Project teams to improve capital governance and project controls
  • Identify and deliver process improvements, automation, and standardisation across regions
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members
  • Deliver reporting and insights on capital expenditure, asset movements, and depreciation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in financial accounting with strong exposure to asset capitalisation, fixed assets, and project accounting
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS/GAAP related to PPE, intangible assets, and capitalisation policies
  • Ability to apply judgement in complex capitalisation decisions and articulate outcomes to stakeholders
  • Experience in a large, complex, or multinational environment with high volumes of capex
  • Strong control approach and track record of maintaining robust financial governance and audit readiness
  • Ability to partner with non-finance stakeholders, including Technology, Operations, and Procurement
  • Experience driving process improvements, simplification, and automation within finance operations
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Confident communication and ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide clear, concise guidance
  • Experience with ERP systems, such as D365, and asset management modules preferred
  • Qualified accountant (CA/CPA or equivalent)
  • May be required to register with the Nevada Gaming Control Board and/or other gaming jurisdictions, depending on the role
