About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide professional academic advising to undergraduate business students and other interested undergraduate students
  • Support student success, retention and timely degree completion
  • Advise students individually and in group/class settings through in-person, phone, Zoom, email and other technology
  • Monitor student academic progress using eAdvisor, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, DARS and reporting tools
  • Conduct phone outreach regarding academic options, course selection and registration
  • Respond to current, prospective and transitioning student questions and concerns
  • Interpret university, college and program-level academic policies and procedures
  • Counsel students on degrees, extracurricular activities, study abroad, research and internships
  • Collaborate with students, faculty and staff to promote academic success
  • Assist students and parents in crisis and make referrals to appropriate support services
  • Participate in and present academic advising and skill-development workshops
  • Attend and participate in Undergraduate Program events, including orientation, welcome events, WPC 101 and convocation
  • Teach a first-year student success course as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
  • Strong technical, administrative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with students in higher education/college-level academic advising
  • Experience using student information systems such as PeopleSoft and DARS
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce
  • Knowledge of ASU academic structure and organization
  • Problem-solving, critical thinking and time management skills
  • Ability to rapidly learn and effectively utilize new technology, practices and policies
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
  • Willingness to travel to multiple campus locations in the Phoenix metropolitan area
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening, criminal background check and fingerprint check
