About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct student-facing support to undergraduate students in online and/or in-person programs
  • Provide 1:1 and group academic advising
  • Serve as primary instructor for multiple sections of ASU 101-NU
  • Identify students needing escalated support and conduct outreach collaboratively with student engagement teams and leadership
  • Support advising, recruitment, and student engagement initiatives
  • Monitor student progress toward successful degree completion
  • Use eAdvisor, Salesforce, DARS, text, email, and other technology platforms to advise students on academic options, course registration, and timely degree progress
  • Counsel students on degrees, extracurricular activities, study abroad, research, and internships
  • Respond to student questions and concerns and help resolve escalations
  • Connect students with tutoring, counseling, career services, and other academic and personal resources; follow up on service effectiveness
  • Participate in Edson College recruitment, student engagement, and other activities and events
  • Use office equipment and analyze and report data
  • Deliver presentations and engage with student groups
  • Adapt priorities and resolve conflicts as needed
  • Travel between university campuses and to events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
  • Strong background and comfort level with technology
  • Ability to review multiple technology-based platforms, track and monitor student progress, and respond quickly to student inquiries and time-sensitive campaigns and projects
  • Experience working with students in higher education/college level academic advising (desired)
  • Experience teaching, preferably in secondary education or higher (desired)
  • Experience using student information systems and advising technology such as PeopleSoft, DARS, online appointment scheduling, and eAdvisor (desired)
  • Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce (desired)
  • Knowledge of ASU’s academic structure, organization, academic programs, colleges, and departments (desired)
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
  • Basic math and calculator skills
  • Ability to use telephone, computer, printer, fax, and copier
  • Must be available Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
  • Ability to travel for events and between campuses
  • Ability to work in an environmentally controlled office setting with extended sitting, keyboarding, and computer mouse use
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including stooping, bending, crawling, reaching, lifting, and pushing objects up to 20 pounds
  • Successful completion of criminal background and fingerprint checks
