About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support applied research, public health data analysis, data reporting, and research dissemination
  • Maintain and improve research data systems and dashboards using R and related tools
  • Provide technical support for research projects, public health reporting, dashboard maintenance, and data products
  • Produce reports using VDRS/SUDORS and other project datasets
  • Coordinate data for management, policy studies, and research activities
  • Maintain the Center’s website
  • Prepare bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Develop recurring and ad hoc data summaries, tables, figures, visualizations, and written summaries
  • Design, coordinate, and conduct research activities and statistical studies
  • Develop and maintain databases for management decision-making and program evaluation
  • Link, clean, wrangle, and summarize multiple datasets
  • Participate in special studies and recommend solutions or alternatives
  • Improve internal processes, data workflows, and project efficiency
  • Train staff on departmental data processing tools
  • Create and maintain databases using Python, WordPress, Microsoft Excel, R, R Quarto, and R Shiny
  • Apply statistical and data analysis techniques to research, evaluation, public health surveillance, and violence-prevention projects
  • Generate data dissemination products for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Write technical content for academic, practitioner, policy, and general audiences
  • Make recommendations to management and external partners
  • Assist with presentations, articles, technical reports, operational plans, and accreditation reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or training producing comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Cover letter and resume or CV required
  • Knowledge of research design, methodologies, and statistics
  • Knowledge of basic statistics and data analysis
  • Knowledge of data collection and analysis methods
  • Knowledge of statistical and financial tools
  • Knowledge of public health, epidemiology, violence prevention, injury surveillance, or related applied research areas beneficial
  • Skill in linking, cleaning, wrangling, summarizing, and documenting multiple datasets
  • Skill in Microsoft Excel and R
  • Skill in creating tables, charts, dashboards, reports, and data dissemination products
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and move projects forward with limited supervision
  • Ability to translate technical findings into clear language for diverse audiences
  • Employment contingent upon successful background check
  • Driving is not required
