About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist employees and retirees in understanding, enrolling in, and using benefits through phone, email, in-person, and video communication
  • Guide employees through HRIS Self-Service for new hire enrollment, life event changes, open enrollment, and troubleshooting
  • Administer commuter benefits, tuition reimbursement, COBRA, and retiree benefits in compliance with regulations, plan documents, and County policies
  • Determine eligibility and process enrollments, changes, and terminations
  • Update records in Oracle Cloud HRIS, retiree databases, and other software platforms
  • Participate in biweekly payroll processing and ensure accurate, timely benefit deductions
  • Review and reconcile vendor interface files, error reports, and invoices
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve claims, eligibility, and enrollment issues
  • Support onboarding and offboarding by reviewing dependent eligibility and conducting benefits orientations
  • Develop and review intranet/website content, newsletters, presentations, videos, and correspondence
  • Track workload, monitor service delivery, and improve benefit administration processes
  • Work on special projects and perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or another related field
  • Some experience providing direct customer service, preferably in human resources or benefits administration
  • Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the educational requirement
  • Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement
  • Pre-employment criminal records check, including criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history
  • Ability to use Oracle Cloud, PeopleSoft, SAP, or other HRIS systems for record maintenance and report generation is desirable
  • Experience administering medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, and COBRA benefit programs is desirable
  • Experience with HR laws, regulations, and web-based case management or customer service tracking systems is desirable
  • CEBS, PHR, or other related certifications/coursework is desirable
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is desirable
  • Ability to work closely with HR professionals and remain professional and calm in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
