About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage an assigned portfolio of Arrive Fresh cargo claims from initial filing to final resolution
- Investigate and resolve temperature-controlled freight claims involving reefer temperature deviations, pulp readings, transit delays, shelf-life deterioration, and USDA inspection results
- Negotiate and settle cargo loss, damage, shortage, and contamination claims
- Coordinate salvage, redistribution, or disposal of perishable freight
- Collect and validate temperature logs, bills of lading, USDA inspections, invoices, and other claim documentation
- Reconcile claim-related receivables and payables, secure releases, and execute assignments of rights
- Track claims data and trends to identify risk areas, recurring issues, and carrier performance concerns
- Partner with Carrier Sales, Business Delivery, Legal, and Operational Risk
- Escalate complex, high-value, or litigated claims to the Arrive Fresh Risk Manager
- Monitor cold-chain compliance, carrier vetting, reefer certifications, temperature-recording protocols, pre-cooling requirements, and FSMA compliance
- Oversee operational risk workflows for rejected, stranded, or high-risk perishable loads
- Maintain accurate claim records in TMS and claims management systems and keep customers and carriers informed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related) or equivalent professional experience preferred
- 3+ years of cargo claims management experience, with a heavy emphasis on 3PL, freight brokerage, or cargo insurance environments
- Deep knowledge of the Carmack Amendment, PACA guidelines, USDA standards, and FSMA
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills, including handling high-value settlements and complex legal disputes
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced logistics environment
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, freight broker TMS platforms, and claims management software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer and carrier relationship management
