About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of Arrive Fresh cargo claims from initial filing to final resolution
  • Investigate and resolve temperature-controlled freight claims involving reefer temperature deviations, pulp readings, transit delays, shelf-life deterioration, and USDA inspection results
  • Apply PACA guidelines and the Carmack Amendment
  • Negotiate and settle cargo loss, damage, shortage, and contamination claims with shippers, receivers, carriers, and insurance adjusters
  • Mitigate losses on perishable freight by coordinating salvage, redistribution, or disposal in line with food safety and FSMA requirements
  • Collect and validate claim documentation, including temperature logs, bills of lading, USDA inspections, and invoices
  • Build defensible positions for recovery and subrogation
  • Reconcile claim-related receivables and payables, secure releases, and execute assignments of rights
  • Track claims data and trends to identify risk areas, recurring issues, and carrier performance concerns
  • Partner with Carrier Sales, Business Delivery, Legal, and Operational Risk
  • Escalate complex, high-value, or litigated claims to the Arrive Fresh Risk Manager
  • Monitor cold-chain compliance and carrier vetting standards
  • Enforce reefer unit certifications, temperature-recording protocols, pre-cooling requirements, and FSMA Sanitary Transportation Rule compliance
  • Oversee operational risk workflows for rejected, stranded, or high-risk perishable loads
  • Coordinate real-time reefer temperature deviation reviews, offsite restacks, and carrier holds or decertifications
  • Maintain accurate claim records in the TMS and claims management system
  • Keep customers and carriers informed of claim status

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, or related) or equivalent professional experience preferred
  • 3+ years of cargo claims management experience, with a heavy emphasis on 3PL, freight brokerage, or cargo insurance environments
  • Deep knowledge of perishable freight laws and standards, including the Carmack Amendment, PACA guidelines, USDA standards, and FSMA
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills, with a track record of handling high-value settlements and complex legal disputes
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, freight broker TMS platforms, and claims management software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills focused on proactive, collaborative customer and carrier relationship management
