About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead multiple concurrent micro-squads of 1–2 engineers through shifting project scopes, team structures, and operational frameworks
Lead project cycles from scoping through production deployment
Empower engineers to use Claude AI to navigate complex codebases and accelerate onboarding and project rotations
Own capacity planning and project sequencing
Balance high-ROI initiatives with technical debt reduction and operational stability
Lead trade-off conversations with cross-functional stakeholders
Manage delivery timelines and set realistic expectations
Partner with Product Managers and Staff Engineers on sprint planning, task creation, and resource allocation
Guide engineers across frontend, backend, integrations, data engineering, and AWS cloud infrastructure
Review incidents, bugs, and technical debt metrics
Ensure squads schedule proactive improvements to reduce operational workload
Set expectations, define squad goals, and maintain accountability
Gather 360-degree stakeholder feedback for performance reviews and career growth plans

Requirements

What you’ll need

Pragmatic, flexible, and highly adaptable management approach
Ability to adapt management style and delivery practices to varying projects, processes, team dynamics, and business needs
Experience directly managing software engineers across various experience levels
Proven track record managing capacity and project delivery across multiple concurrent projects or micro-squads
Comfortable supporting full-stack engineering environments across frontend, backend, APIs, data pipelines, and AWS cloud infrastructure
Hands-on familiarity with CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, and unit testing
Experience with sprint planning, trade-off discussions, stakeholder communication, and delivery management
Ability to translate complex technical decisions clearly for non-technical partners
Experience coaching senior engineers and technical leaders
Legally able to work in Canada
Completion of a criminal background check
