About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead chemistry efforts as part of a cross-functional project team to drive programs to key decisions across the preclinical pipeline
- Lead assigned PROTAC projects, potentially focused on degrader-antibody conjugates, from inception to clinical candidate nomination
- Design PROTACs, degrader-antibody conjugates, and libraries using computational chemistry resources
- Analyze complex, multivariate SAR datasets to generate testable hypotheses
- Interact with external CRO resources to fulfill synthetic and data needs according to timelines and standards
- Solicit and analyze experimentation and data to identify and prioritize issues and support decision-making
- Collaborate with functions across drug discovery
- Provide scientific updates to the manager and company executives
- Represent company interests at conferences and with external scientific organizations as needed
- Develop and communicate data-based strategic recommendations and decisions to research and development leadership
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven track record of leading research projects through milestone decisions toward clinical candidate nomination
- Extensive experience in the synthetic and medicinal chemistry of antibody-drug conjugates
- Specific experience with degrader-antibody conjugates preferred
- Extensive knowledge of structure-based design, SAR generation, and multi-parametric optimization
- Deep understanding of pharmacokinetic principles and in vivo pharmacology
- Proven ability to collaborate and communicate project needs and strategy to multidisciplinary team members and senior leaders
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future
- Must be able to lift/carry 15/30 pounds unassisted/assisted, with or without accommodation
- Must be able to work in a controlled environment with and around biological, infectious and hazardous materials
- Must be able to gown/degown PPE
- Must be able to use a computer and communicate via phone, video, and electronic messaging
- Must be able to engage in problem solving, analysis and dialogue and collaborate with others
- Must maintain general availability during standard business hours
- PhD in organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry
- 8+ years of pharma/biotech-based drug discovery experience
