About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage multiple large and complex accounts across multiple business lines
- Partner with sales on new business opportunities and participate in finalist processes
- Drive client satisfaction and retention, increase revenue, and establish relationships with day-to-day administrators and C-level executives
- Develop and maintain relationships with client decision makers and plan administrators
- Develop strategies to improve plan operations, identify efficiency gains, and improve participant retirement readiness
- Work across business lines to meet client expectations
- Liaise between intermediaries/producers and clients, resolving confusion and ensuring contractual compliance
- Participate from initial RFP response through onboarding and ongoing plan administration
- Manage and monitor client accounts and ensure timely, accurate, and consistent service deliverables
- Work with vendors to investigate and resolve transaction issues and notify clients of resolutions
- Partner with Client Account Managers, Participant Engagement Consultants, and internal teams to meet client needs
- Advocate for clients and financial professionals by coordinating with internal Ascensus departments
- Leverage industry knowledge to promote client satisfaction, retention, and organic growth
- Understand non-standard plan requirements, including ESOP, 457 governmental, deferred compensation, and 409A plans
- Maintain knowledge of partner products, Ascensus proprietary products, and operations
- Maintain compliance with departmental policies and procedures
- Stay current on laws, regulations, trends, and issues affecting administrative client service
- Make regular in-person client visits based on client size
- Compile data, track communications and escalations, and propose solutions
- Identify cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts and support revenue goals
- Own resolution of issues escalated by clients and financial professionals
- Maintain relationships with clients, attorneys, accountants, and related professionals
- Maintain a retirement-industry network leading to sales opportunities
- Lead or participate in projects that add value for existing relationships
- Protect, secure, and properly handle confidential Ascensus and client data
- Assist in managing vendor relationships on behalf of clients and partners
- Demonstrate Ascensus’ core values and service philosophy in daily actions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in business or related fields, or equivalent work experience
- 15+ years of retirement industry experience
- 7–10 years of direct experience in client relationship management or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certification or working towards certification (ASPPA, CEBS, etc.) in industry-related studies program preferred
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a highly cohesive team environment
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented and able to produce high-quality work within tight time constraints
- Ability to make sound business judgments while balancing client needs and organizational considerations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including group presentation and executive-level presentation experience
- Ability to coordinate and run meetings attended by senior-level personnel
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Travel required up to 25% of the time
