About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Performs compliance testing, testing review, document support, and government forms preparation and review for highly complex retirement plan clients
  • Ensures assigned plans remain tax qualified by meeting IRS and DOL reporting and testing requirements
  • Reports on accounting and financial activity for plans
  • Prepares and reviews non-discrimination, top-heavy, coverage, 415 annual addition, and other compliance tests
  • Performs and reviews complex contribution calculations
  • Maintains client databases and enters changes into recordkeeping software
  • Completes testing and quality-control audits
  • Submits financial reports and Form 5500 packages for review, correction, approval, and submission
  • Allocates employer profit-sharing, matching, and money purchase pension contributions based on plan provisions
  • Produces distributions or allocations of contributions or forfeitures with the administration team
  • Reviews legal plan documents and employee data to determine participant eligibility
  • Reconciles and reviews financial activity and prepares government forms
  • Consults on and implements resolutions to client issues
  • Monitors legislative changes, IRS rulings, and expert opinions affecting retirement plan processing
  • Researches new issues and communicates impacts on plan qualification status
  • Serves as a technical expert to compliance analysts
  • Coordinates year-end processing with Relationship Managers and Client Service Managers
  • Leads process-improvement projects and assists with training on new processes
  • Writes reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; presents information and responds to questions
  • Assists less experienced Compliance Analysts with daily functions
  • Applies advanced mathematical concepts using spreadsheet and accounting database software
  • Uses technical skills and available tools to resolve compliance issues
  • Collaborates with colleagues and shares knowledge
  • Adopts emerging technologies, including AI and automation
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8 years of progressive plan experience in a third party administration environment
  • Successful completion of the ASPPA RPF-1 and RPF-2 exams designation
  • Knowledge of controlled groups, cross testing, catch-up contributions, and other current technical topics
  • Advanced knowledge of retirement plan tax law (ERISA), including Revenue Code sections 401(a)(4), 416, 414(b), (c), (m), and (n)
  • Strong MS Office skills, including Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or industry experience preferred but not required
  • QKA designation a plus
  • ASC preferred
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts
  • Ability to use spreadsheet and accounting database software
  • Ability to complete detailed financial reconciliations and data analysis
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
  • Less than 5% travel
