About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and build features for Ashbury’s regulatory and artwork tools
  • Take existing prototypes through production and deliver small, frequent releases
  • Blend deterministic rules, document processing, OCR and generative AI for reproducible and explainable outputs
  • Build LLM-backed features using structured prompting, representative test data, golden outputs and thresholds for accuracy, latency and cost
  • Collaborate with regulatory specialists to turn retailer and market knowledge into testable rules, reusable components and terminology mappings
  • Write well-tested, maintainable code in source control
  • Ship software through existing Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Document solutions so the internal team can support and extend them
  • Follow secure-by-design practices, including least privilege, secrets management, privacy controls and dependency hygiene
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Help shape the technical direction and Azure hosting approach with Ashbury’s IT team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Senior-level software engineering experience, including building new products and developing and maintaining existing ones in production
  • Hands-on proficiency with C#/.NET and Azure (Functions, App Service, storage and AI services)
  • Strong API, data-processing and systems-integration skills
  • Practical experience building LLM-backed features, including prompt design, evaluation, guardrails and cost control
  • Experience using Azure OpenAI or similar APIs
  • Experience taking prototypes or digital products through production launch, controlled rollout and ongoing improvement
  • Comfortable working in a small team alongside non-technical specialists
  • Experience with OCR, computer vision, PDF processing, artwork comparison, multilingual content, rules engines or document intelligence is desirable
  • Python for data-processing or AI tooling alongside the .NET stack is desirable
  • TypeScript/React, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform experience is desirable
  • Containers, Git workflows and automated testing in an Azure DevOps environment are desirable
  • Experience in FMCG, retail, regulatory technology or another controlled environment is desirable
