About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist with the direction to DA office team throughout the day to maintain productive patient flow
- Assist the doctors during a variety of treatment procedures
- Breakdown operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists
- Complete sterilization processes for equipment and operatory and ensure all staff are properly trained and compliant
- Follow maintenance schedules for waterlines, suction lines, waterline testing, autoclave, and compressor
- Tray and operatory set-up for all procedures
- Support patient charting for doctors
- Train others on patient handoffs and monitor patient flow
- Follow OSHA regulations, Aspen safety requirements, and HIPAA guidelines
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays)
- Provide patients with oral-care instructions following treatment
- Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies
- Complete denture soft relines and manufacture temporary crowns
- Monitor and aid in management of laboratory cases
- Perform quality intraoral health scans within five minutes
- Explain and teach the clear aligner process
- Take quality impressions and bite registrations
- Perform additional expanded functions based on certifications, including coronal polishing and restorative functions
- Maintain emergency kits and oxygen tanks
- Order and maintain supplies according to the practice budget
- Perform various office tasks as necessary
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current Dental Assistant License, Registration, Certification as required by state
- Radiology (x-ray) certification as required by state
- Current CPR or BLS certificate
- 2+ years' experience as a Dental Assistant
- Proficient at chairside assisting/four-handed dentistry
- Demonstrate and provide instruction on proper sterilization and infection control techniques
- Maintain and update annual CE requirement as specified by state
- State Certification in expanded functions as required by state
