About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own day-to-day quality for the Bids & Tenders SaaS platform.
- Review user stories, acceptance criteria, and designs; ensure requirements are clear and testable before development.
- Write and maintain test plans, scenarios, and cases for features, enhancements, and releases.
- Identify testing risks, dependencies, environment/data blockers, and gaps early.
- Participate in Agile planning, refinement, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Execute functional, regression, integration, smoke, system, and exploratory testing for web applications and related services.
- Validate buyer and supplier workflows end-to-end, including cross-browser and responsive behavior.
- Test APIs, integrations, and data flows involving authentication, payments, reporting, and third-party services.
- Log defects with reproducible steps, expected versus actual results, environment details, and evidence; verify fixes and re-test impact.
- Support User Acceptance Testing and production release validation.
- Build and maintain automated tests, preferably with Playwright, for high-value regression and smoke paths.
- Diagnose flaky tests and classify failures across product, automation, environment/data, and infrastructure ownership.
- Contribute to CI/CD quality gates and readable failure reports.
- Expand automation coverage for repetitive and high-risk scenarios while retaining exploratory testing judgment.
- Confirm integrations with authentication providers, payment systems, reporting tools, and other third-party services.
- Check accessibility, privacy, and security-related behavior at a practical QA depth.
- Partner with Developers and Product Managers to resolve issues and improve quality outcomes.
- Participate in defect triage and root-cause discussions.
- Communicate progress, risks, and release confidence with evidence.
- Maintain QA test notes, runbooks, and how-to documentation.
- Perform related duties as assigned to support release quality and team delivery.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- 3+ years of software quality assurance experience on web-based or SaaS products.
- Proven experience designing and executing both manual and automated tests.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining UI automation suites.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and investigating pipeline failures.
- Experience working in Agile delivery teams.
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g. Jira, Qase, Azure DevOps, or similar).
- Hands-on experience testing REST APIs (Postman or equivalent) and reading basic logs / network traces.
- Comfortable validating multi-step business workflows (stateful flows, roles, and permissions) not only isolated UI screens.
- Practical experience with at least one modern UI automation framework (Playwright strongly preferred; Cypress or Selenium acceptable).
- Ability to write maintainable automated tests using code (TypeScript/JavaScript preferred; Java/Python/C# acceptable).
- Experience debugging tests, including timing/race conditions, brittle selectors, environment/data dependencies, and shared-state collisions.
- Experience with automated API checks and combining UI + API verification in end-to-end flows.
- Familiarity with Git-based collaboration for test code (branches, pull requests, code review).
- Experience with test data setup/teardown, storage-state/auth reuse, and multienvironment configuration is an asset.
- Exposure to GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jenkins, or similar CI systems is an asset.
- Solid understanding of software testing methodologies and when to apply each (smoke, regression, integration, exploratory, UAT).
- Working knowledge of SQL/relational data for verification.
- Familiarity with browser DevTools (network, console) for diagnosis during manual and automated failure analysis.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and interpreting failed pipeline runs, logs, and test artifacts.
- Basic understanding of cloud SaaS architecture and multi-environment testing (staging/production-like lanes).
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) is an asset.
