Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java
Work with Oracle databases, including schema design, query optimisation and data layer development
Build and extend frontend features in Angular
Translate requirements and use cases into clean, maintainable and well-tested code
Shape technical design of features and components, including service boundaries, data consistency and failure modes
Identify bottlenecks, debug issues and drive continuous performance improvements
Use AI tools across the development workflow and verify every result
Find new ways to apply AI in daily team work and help colleagues adopt it
Lead and participate in code reviews
Collaborate with the Italian development team and cross-functional stakeholders
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced developers
Write and maintain technical documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Typically 6+ years of professional software development
Java 8+ with JPA and either Spring Boot or JAX-RS; ORM experience (Hibernate or equivalent)
Strong SQL and schema design skills; Oracle experience preferred, PostgreSQL or MySQL accepted
Experience architecting multi-component systems; comfortable reasoning about service boundaries, data consistency and failure modes
Proven, hands-on use of AI tools as a core part of daily development workflow, with concrete examples
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
Experience with Agile methodologies and fast-paced delivery cycles
Professional-level English, written and verbal
Nice-to-have: TypeScript, Angular 2+, HTML5, CSS/Sass
Nice-to-have: Oracle PL/SQL
Nice-to-have: AI agents, prompt and context engineering, or MCP
Nice-to-have: AI-assisted development or testing practices
Nice-to-have: Microservices architecture and containerisation with Docker or Kubernetes
Nice-to-have: CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
