About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Educate all organizational levels on clinical documentation and medical coding impacting revenue
- Collaborate on and develop/provide training and resource materials for technical and system applications used by Coding and CDI staff
- Use coding and clinical documentation knowledge management, electronic medical record functionality, and technology to improve efficiency
- Streamline and support staff coding, clinical documentation, and revenue protection
- Adjust working hours based on department operational needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's Degree in health information technology, health information management, or related healthcare field, or two years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree
- Two years of progressively responsible coding or CDI experience
- At least one required certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P), Registered Health Information Admin (RHIA), Registered Health Info Tech (RHIT), Certified Clin Doc Spec (CCDS), or Certified Doc Improvement Practitioner (CDIP)
- Availability between 8:00am and 4:30pm CST, Monday–Friday, as operationally required
- Residence in an approved UW Health remote work state
- Bachelor's Degree in health information technology, health information management, or related healthcare field preferred
- Experience with Coding & CDI quality improvement projects preferred
- Experience in training, organizational development activities, or project management principles preferred
