About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and lead the software/firmware engineering team
  • Lead and mentor highly technical engineers developing IDT Real-Time Location Systems
  • Coordinate development and delivery of solutions within a globally distributed team
  • Interact with local and distributed engineering teams, product/program management teams, and stakeholders
  • Design, develop, and release production software, firmware, and hardware
  • Foster an environment where team members can challenge the status quo
  • Review product specifications and designs
  • Lead quarterly PI Planning and ongoing SAFe ceremonies
  • Promote a secure development life cycle
  • Participate in and lead daily stand-ups
  • Partner with Product Owners, Product Managers, and System Architects to align development with business needs
  • Make independent team decisions within established policies and recommend process improvements
  • Own delivery of agreed Business Objectives for each SAFe PI
  • Translate business and technical objectives into actionable plans; assign and prioritize work
  • Coordinate development across backend services, APIs, frontend applications, and production operations
  • Partner with product, QA, architecture, customer-facing teams, and stakeholders to align priorities and resolve delivery risks
  • Identify unclear, inconsistent, or technically constrained requirements and communicate issues early
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineers through direction, feedback, and professional-growth support
  • Own team delivery against objectives, schedules, quality expectations, staffing needs, and operational commitments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience, plus a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or a master’s degree plus 6 years; or a PhD plus 3 years
  • At least 5 years in a formal leadership capacity
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating technical teams
  • Technical background in designing, developing, and maintaining backend software services and full-stack web applications or similar experience
  • Strong understanding of agile delivery; experience with SAFe and quarterly PI Planning is highly valued
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills in Czech and English
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience with Atlassian, Git, and Miro
  • Experience with modern technologies and frameworks, such as Node.js, React, Vue, or Svelte
  • Experience supporting both cloud and on-premises software environments
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, delivery dependencies, costs, staffing, or resource planning
  • Must be currently and legally authorized to reside and work in the Czech Republic
  • Immigration sponsorship is not available
  • International relocation or remote work arrangements outside of the hiring country will not be considered
