About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate equipment and move product within the assigned area under lead person or plant supervision
  • Set up and operate power machinery including shears, rolls, punches, copes, formers, robotics, and related equipment
  • Work from blueprints, order pickers, routing tickets, cutting lists, shop drawings, and architectural drawings
  • Calculate gauging and setups mathematically for special work and make adjustments
  • Attach fire and identification labels as needed
  • Cross-train with other operators and in other areas
  • Maintain required paperwork
  • Move materials into and out of the work area
  • Assess the quality of work-in-process
  • Perform assigned preventive maintenance duties
  • Check order status to ensure orders are processed properly and on time
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6 months manufacturing experience preferred
  • Able to read and write legibly
  • Able to read blueprints, shop drawings, and work from sketches
  • Good knowledge of shop mathematics, work-in-process, and finished product
  • Good manual dexterity and coordination
  • Physically able to lift up to 51 lbs. for approximately 60% of the time
  • Required to work shifts of up to 12 hours and more than 40 hours per week as scheduled
  • Able to work on own initiative without immediate supervision
  • Able to adjust and use computerized gauging
  • Ability to attain knowledge of metric dimensions
  • Able to communicate easily with people
  • Ability to walk and stand for the entire shift
  • Overhead crane certification required; training and testing provided if needed
  • Ability to operate or work with presses, shears, welders, rolling machines, lasers, small tools, forklifts, hand trucks, power ox, overhead cranes, MIG welders, and grinders
