Key responsibilities & impact

Demonstrate market and forecast/demand analysis for steel, aluminum, and other assigned categories
Manage sourcing, supplier relationships, negotiations, and purchase orders
Process purchase orders from requisitions and follow up on orders
Research and resolve late deliveries, order changes, and invoice discrepancies
Handle day-to-day raw material availability and quality issues
Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives for target categories
Evaluate new and existing suppliers and monitor supplier performance
Ensure corrective actions for under-performing suppliers
Interpret manufacturing specifications to obtain vendor quotations
Make sourcing decisions balancing financial, manufacturing, quality, and delivery requirements
Analyze spend and vendor performance to identify trends and opportunities
Use Excel modeling tools to forecast scenarios
Collaborate with peers and leaders across functions and organizational levels
Build and maintain positive supplier and internal customer relationships
Support key business initiatives and annual cost-saving goals
Perform other duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Accounting, or Engineering
Minimum of five (5) years of comprehensive procurement experience in a manufacturing industry, including management of supplier performance objectives (quality, price, delivery)
At least three (3) years of recent experience purchasing steel coil and aluminum extrusions
Proficiency in ERP systems for accurate transactions, data extraction, analysis, and decision support
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; intermediate Word and Excel proficiency essential
Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong negotiation skills
Valid driver license and acceptable driving record
Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel locally, including to customer or vendor sites
Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight travel by ground or air; some international travel may be required
Regular attendance at the workplace required
Ability to perform physical requirements including extended sitting, facility traversal, bending, reaching, and lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs
