About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure the home office and branch operations are in full compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations
  • Keep current with applicable regulations affecting the business
  • Maintain the Safety Program and Manual
  • Develop, conduct and/or coordinate personnel training to comply with the manual
  • Ensure employees stay current with required certifications/recertifications such as Fork Lifts
  • Maintain safety training records
  • Maintain hazardous material records, including disposal and spills
  • Track and report OSHA 300 and 300A logs for all facilities
  • Investigate incidents and near misses and facilitate corrective actions
  • Monitor workers’ compensation claims for impact to the EMR rating, targeting less than 1.0
  • Facilitate identification of claim root causes and work with branches on corrective actions
  • Facilitate development of a Sustainability policy
  • Identify and coordinate sustainability projects, including energy reduction, recycling and promotion of sustainable packaging materials
  • Prepare sustainability initiative status reports
  • Work with HR to implement policies and procedures supporting a healthy work environment
  • Support customer EH&S risk-management requirements through data, reports, training and related activities
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and policies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Ability to problem solve using a structured approach
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite
  • Some domestic travel to any of the (10) API branches
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health or related field preferred
  • One to three years of related experience preferred
