About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca’s lupus marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development
  • Engage in scientific exchange with targeted Key Opinion Leaders, Key Decision Makers, and Healthcare Professionals
  • Identify and engage key customers using scientific expertise and business knowledge of marketed products and compounds in development
  • Develop peer-level relationships with Key Decision Makers, Healthcare Professionals, and researchers
  • Identify pre-clinical, clinical, and post-marketing study investigators aligned with Clinical Development and Therapeutic Brand Team goals
  • Uncover barriers to optimal disease management and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes
  • Provide actionable information to internal stakeholders and respond to customer inquiries with focused, balanced clinical and scientific information
  • Deliver clinical and scientific information that differentiates AstraZeneca’s products
  • Adhere to internal standard processes and regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Maintain expertise in disease-state management, emerging therapies, and the competitive landscape
  • Provide clinical support and deliver data presentations regionally and nationally
  • Demonstrate project leadership and management across the field medical team and therapeutic area
  • Train and mentor within the therapeutic area, providing performance guidelines and coaching

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced Clinical/Science Degree required (e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, PA-C)
  • 0–2 years of experience in a clinical or commercial setting; MSL experience preferred
  • Thorough understanding of healthcare system landscape and market dynamics
  • Established networks and/or clinical experience within the therapeutic-area focus
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context with multiple audiences
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Excellent project management ability
  • Thorough knowledge of the regulatory environment
  • Ability to travel 50–70% (percentage varies with geography)
  • Established experience delivering quality improvement initiatives
  • 2+ years’ experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Established track record of basic or clinical research preferred
  • Immunology, rheumatology, or dermatology experience preferred
