About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy aligned with AZ USMA priorities, local specificities, and patient needs
  • Develop strong working relationships with academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices
  • Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists, urologists, and key members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Lead peer-to-peer scientific and medical interactions
  • Gather insights on the treatment landscape, healthcare environment and practice, barriers to optimal treatment and patient care, and opportunities to improve cancer patient outcomes
  • Communicate insights and findings internally and propose actions to improve patient care and outcomes
  • Discuss data and educational gaps with KOLs to support appropriate medicine use and inform R&D strategy
  • Summarize clinical data into accurate and balanced information and clearly convey relevant information
  • Stay current with scientific knowledge, marketed and emerging products, competitor activities, healthcare trends, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, and therapeutic interventions
  • Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations on Phase 3 trials from feasibility through execution
  • Discuss and follow up on investigator-sponsored research studies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced scientific degree required (i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
  • 2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations and in small group dialogues
  • Ability to work independently and in groups
  • Ability to navigate within a matrixial environment
  • Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols
  • Basic understanding of the Healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, statistics and regulatory environment
  • Excellent project management ability
  • Ability to travel 40–60% by car and plane domestically
  • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical field
