About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the local medical voice of AstraZeneca in thoracic cancer and build local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes
- Provide medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology marketed products, new indications, and compounds in development
- Establish oneself as a trusted scientific advisor, peer, and expert to internal collaborators and external healthcare professionals
- Synthesize healthcare professional insights from multiple segments and communicate them to internal collaborators
- Integrate science into proposed business strategies, training, and resources
- Synthesize and integrate research and summarize findings for various healthcare professional segments
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Development teams
- Drive guideline sharing and help apply guidelines to Field Medical Affairs work processes
- Lead clinical trials, research activities, and special projects
- Coach team members in building external relationships across academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices
- Support team members' creative and innovative ideas and recognize contributions to team/project success
- Provide input on MSL training content, assist with onboarding, and serve as a buddy to new MSL hires
- Lead MSLs in congress scientific coverage and data synthesis support
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced scientific degree required in a relevant health science or clinical discipline (i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA, NP or BSN with extensive clinical experience)
- 2 years MSL experience or related therapeutic experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate scientific data to internal and external customers
- Ability to work independently and in groups
- Ability to navigate within a matrixial environment
- Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent project management ability
- Ability to travel 40-60% by car and plane domestically
- Clinical discipline
- MSL experience
- Oncology experience
- Demonstrated expertise in delivering customer-related outcomes in the targeted field/territory
- Demonstrated ability to impact Medical Affairs and MSL strategies on a regional level
