About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create and manage regional patient engagement plans, educational events, community engagements, and face-to-face patient interactions
- Deliver disease-state and product education to patients and caregivers
- Develop and execute patient programming strategies across therapeutic areas
- Share disease, diagnosis, and treatment-support materials
- Educate patients and caregivers on preparing for and what to expect during infusion processes
- Capture and report local business insights
- Build relationships with local advocacy groups and rare-disease networks
- Partner with the Alexion Patient Advocacy Team
- Collaborate with Commercial, Medical, Marketing, Patient Services, and other cross-functional teams
- Visit infusion centers and focused healthcare organization sites to provide education and training on dosing, administration, disease state, and REMS requirements
- Support ongoing REMS certifications and compliance tactics
- Maintain detailed records of field activities for regulatory compliance
- Support implementation of new REMS and REMS enhancements
- Partner with the Commercial REMS Team to develop REMS strategies
- Engage infusion nurses and other staff to support patients
- Set up and participate in non-prescriber congresses and educational events
- Collaborate compliantly with other field teams on patient and healthcare-provider education
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 5 years total business experience in the healthcare or biotech industry
- BA/BS degree required
- Nursing, allied health, healthcare administration, or rare disease support background desired
- Advanced degree a plus
- Previous experience with IV infused products
- Ability to travel up to 60–80% within a territory
- Ability to travel to meetings, trainings, and programs as necessary, including possible evenings and weekends
- Excellent presentation skills for diverse stakeholders and settings, including audiences of 150+ people
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High initiative, solid work ethic, and consistent accountability
- Demonstrated success working within cross-functional teams in a field-based role
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane
- Ability to work comfortably in a clinical setting
- At least 3 years of field-based experience in account management, sales, or patient education preferred
- Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory components of the pharmaceutical and biotech industry
- Certification or training in REMS
- Strong understanding of REMS requirements and pharmaceutical regulations
- Bi-lingual proficiency in Spanish, written and spoken
- Understanding of the rare disease advocacy landscape
- Experience educating and supporting patients/caregivers
- Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to change in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
