About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Achieve or exceed sales objectives in the assigned territory
- Create and maintain account-specific business plans based on local market forces, diagnostic pathways, referral patterns, and treatment adoption
- Develop and maintain clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge across assigned indications, emphasizing renal disease education and nephrology customer needs
- Educate healthcare professionals on clinical approaches to relevant disease states, differential diagnosis, testing, and timely treatment
- Build relationships with nephrologists and stakeholders in academic centers, hospital systems, physician clinics, infusion centers, and related sites of care
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional stakeholders and enterprise partners
- Handle customer questions and objections consistently with product indications and sales training methodology
- Demonstrate proper product use to clinicians in hospital, clinic, and infusion center environments
- Lead a patient-centric partnership model involving physicians, staff, patients, clinics, hospitals, and care partners
- Use CRM tools and AI-embedded tools to manage territory priorities, track engagement, document activities, submit reports, and optimize call execution
- Use AI-driven insights for territory planning, HCP targeting, pre-call strategy, and account action plans
- Execute local promotional activities and programs
- Provide product expertise and customer service to accounts
- Interact with management to refine product and market initiatives based on field insights, access trends, and account needs
- Adhere to Alexion’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and company policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 years pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience (e.g., Biotech or Medical Device), or 5 years of experience in a medical setting
- Proven, documented track record for delivering consistent, top-tier sales results in institutions, hospital systems, and/or complex specialty markets
- Ability to work independently as well as interdependently in a team-oriented environment
- Strong clinical acumen, account-based selling, analytical, and strategic skills
- Demonstrated ability to seek out and qualify leads, profile new accounts, and build durable relationships with healthcare providers and office staff
- Ability to gain consistent access and develop professional relationships for scientific exchange and promotion with healthcare providers
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational abilities
- Must live in the geographic territory or within 50 miles of the geographic territory border
- Ability to travel within territory regularly, including possible frequent overnight and weekend travel
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane; work comfortably in a clinical setting; use a computer; communicate via phone, video, and electronic messaging; problem solve; analyze; collaborate; and maintain availability during standard business hours
