About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy aligned with AZ USMA priorities, local specificities, and patient needs
  • Develop strong working relationships across academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices
  • Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists and key members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Lead peer-to-peer scientific and medical interactions
  • Gather insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment, barriers to optimal treatment and patient care, and opportunities to improve cancer patient outcomes
  • Discuss data and educational gaps with key opinion leaders to support appropriate medicine use and inform R&D strategy
  • Stay current with scientific knowledge and attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations on trials from feasibility through execution
  • Serve as AstraZeneca’s local medical voice for Breast Oncology and build local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced scientific degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA, or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations, and small group dialogues
  • Ability to navigate within a matrixial environment
  • 2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context with multiple audiences
  • Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols
  • Basic understanding of the healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, statistics, and regulatory environment
  • Excellent project management ability
  • Ability to travel 40–60% by car, train, and domestic plane
  • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline
