About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Travel to local courts and retrieve data via computer/web-based systems, files, and documents related to applicants’ histories
- Locate information quickly and accurately in accordance with applicable state laws and procedures
- Retrieve and enter applicant-history data from computer/web-based systems, files, and other documents
- Use software programs to enter criminal results to clients
- Examine internet databases and court records to investigate and adjudicate criminal records
- Perform data entry using spreadsheet or database commands
- Conduct extensive in-person inquiries and searches to supplement criminal records
- Analyze collected information to identify potential problems or discrepancies
- Update order statuses appropriately
- Proactively update the supervisor regarding delays, court-system access issues, courthouse changes, fees, quality issues, and trends
- Handle confidential information responsibly and with good judgment
- Establish positive working relationships with court personnel and others needed to complete tasks
- Monitor and implement processing and system changes
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Candidates must be able to commute within Fairfax County, Fairfax, VA and to the various court houses within the county
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned court locations daily or as needed is required
- Minimum of $300,000 primary liability coverage maintained under personal auto insurance policy
- Experience in customer service or with research/investigations is required
- Experience with internet research is required
- Experience with the legal/court system is preferred
- Experience with background screening is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required
- Relevant business management systems such as general ledger, HRIS, CRM, etc. is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred
- Driver’s license and ability to maintain a driving record that is satisfactory to the company’s liability insurance carrier is required
- 0 to 2 years of relevant experience is preferred
- Ability to lift light objects (less than 20 pounds) and carry them short distances (20 feet or less) is required
- Normal Eastern Time Zone business hours availability; occasional work before/after normal hours, weekends and evenings may be required
- Occasional overnight travel may be required
