About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the application of economics, statistics, data science, and experimentation to complex workforce decisions
- Build and manage a small team of data scientists
- Establish methods, standards, tools, and a research agenda for decision science
- Apply causal inference and econometrics to workforce programs, policies, leadership practices, organizational changes, and talent investments
- Develop predictive and prescriptive workforce models
- Design experiments and quasi-experiments to test workforce interventions
- Analyze labor supply and demand, incentives, compensation, mobility, productivity, talent allocation, and skills
- Develop optimization and scenario models to evaluate workforce trade-offs
- Set technical direction, provide methodological coaching, prioritize work, and establish quality standards
- Partner with Workforce Intelligence colleagues on analytical approaches and workforce intelligence products
- Translate technical analyses into conclusions, implications, uncertainty ranges, and actionable recommendations for executives
- Establish standards for model validity, explainability, bias testing, reproducibility, and responsible use of employee data
- Design and execute strategies supporting organizational objectives
- Oversee departmental programs and help design and implement relevant strategies
- Make decisions involving hiring, termination, discipline, promotion, and compensation of direct reports
- Supervise direct reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of experience
- Master’s or doctoral degree in economics, econometrics, statistics, operations research, decision science, quantitative social science, or a closely related field
- Deep expertise in several of: causal inference, econometrics, experimental design, statistical modeling, machine learning, optimization, forecasting, or behavioral economics
- Experience leading data scientists, economists, or quantitative researchers
- Demonstrated ability to work with large, complex datasets
- Ability to collaborate effectively with data engineering and technology teams
- Strong business judgment
- Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to nontechnical executives
