About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Establish and operationalize the governance framework for responsible AI use across the company for consequential people decisions
  • Define standards for when AI may inform, recommend, automate, or make decisions within HR processes
  • Establish meaningful human oversight expectations and identify situations where AI should not independently determine outcomes
  • Define standards for AI use in talent acquisition, performance, talent management, learning, workforce planning, employee service, compensation, and workforce analytics
  • Advise HR teams on how to use AI safely and enable responsible innovation
  • Develop practical templates, training, and decision tools for HR teams
  • Integrate responsible AI requirements into HR product development and implementation processes
  • Establish governance checkpoints across intake, design, testing, approval, deployment, monitoring, and retirement
  • Create documentation mechanisms covering intended use, affected populations, data sources, decision authority, human oversight, limitations, and controls
  • Establish approaches for evaluating differential outcomes and potential bias
  • Develop post-deployment monitoring frameworks and measures for performance, employee outcomes, overrides, errors, unintended consequences, and emerging risks
  • Create mechanisms for issue surfacing, investigation, remediation, and escalation
  • Evaluate AI capabilities embedded in HR vendor products and assess data use, output generation, bias testing, controls, and monitoring
  • Coordinate HR governance with enterprise AI governance, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Security, Internal Audit, and other risk functions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong understanding of AI and emerging agentic technologies; able to engage credibly with technical teams
  • Experience translating broad policies and regulatory requirements into operational processes and controls
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and the unique considerations associated with using AI in employment-related contexts
  • Exceptional executive communication and influence skills
  • Strong judgment and ability to balance innovation, employee impact, business value, and risk
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional programs involving Technology, Legal, Privacy, Risk, Data, and business stakeholders
  • Significant experience in AI governance, technology governance, responsible AI, HR technology, product/program management, risk management, data governance, or related discipline
  • Experience designing governance processes that enable speed and innovation rather than creating unnecessary bureaucracy
