About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide LAN administrator support for installation, configuration, and maintenance of network communication devices, servers, network storage arrays, and tape backup units
- Support network-attached devices including computers, printers, fax machines, biometric devices, electrocardiograms, x-ray machines, smart displays, and sensors
- Support mobile and wireless devices including smartphones, tablets, and hotspots
- Assist with server configurations, security patches, system health checks, backups, and restore testing
- Monitor ITSM ServiceNow assignment groups and troubleshoot tickets
- Update tickets using documentation templates and guidelines
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports
- Provide inventory support and update the customer inventory system
- Install and maintain video teleconferencing infrastructure and assist with user requests
- Participate in scheduled after-hours support, weekly on-call rotation, special projects, and events
- Conduct new equipment deployments and provide deployment support
- Provide cabling support in data centers, LAN rooms, and remote wiring closets
- Analyze functional business requirements and design specifications
- Contribute to technical discussions and present briefing materials
- Identify and fix problems in existing systems, support new system implementations, enhance existing systems, and participate in analysis and design of next-generation IT systems
- Translate customer needs and commercially available IT products into requirements for architecture and engineering teams and COTS products
- Report to an Area Technical Lead and provide IT Field Operations support for 24x7 LANs, applications, peripherals, connectivity, and end users in a Tier II Service Desk environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass the DHS Employment Eligibility Verification process
- Associate Degree or equivalent experience
- 1+ years’ of IT-related support experience, preferably in a helpdesk or customer support role
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve desktop, network, or other IT issues
- General knowledge network products and systems
- Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high-quality environment
- Must have excellent team skills and collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must pass Motor Vehicle Records check; position is classified as a “Regular Driver”
- Must maintain a state of travel readiness for local and/or overnight travel to Government locations
- Must be comfortable working in a Law Enforcement environment, including locations similar to detention facilities, prisons, or jails
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment and adhere to social distancing requirements
- Required Public Trust clearance
- Ability to position oneself to access computer and related equipment connections and transport objects or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- Desired: prior enterprise technical support experience in a large, complex organization
- Desired: experience with IT hardware repairs and replacement parts
- Desired: server and backup setup, configuration, and administration experience
- Desired certifications: ITIL v4, MCSE, A+, Security+, Network+, or other relevant certifications
