About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor, troubleshoot, configure, and manage the Department of Homeland Security (FEMA) voice, data, and satellite network
- Provide Federal Government O&M / PM support for contracted operations
- Administer, monitor, and operate Earth Station equipment, remote access servers, remote client systems, software patches, and software updates
- Monitor satellite systems to ensure operational connectivity for mobile units
- Produce bandwidth usage reports, traffic analysis reports, daily schedules, and other required reports
- Maneuver space segments within the satellite system to support new or changed requirements
- Provide Tier 1 satellite support and other Tier 1 support outside satellite operations
- Work at the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center Network Operations Center, with Winchester, Virginia as backup location
- Perform occasional telework from a personal residence
- Perform weekend rotation, evening, and out-of-hours support as needed
- Travel occasionally or perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Satellite knowledge and skill sets, preferably with an iDirect satellite solution
- Ability to provide monitoring and reporting support to a satellite hub station
- Willingness and ability to obtain a Government issued Top Secret Security clearance
- Must be able to initially obtain Public Trust and follow-on TS (#clearable)
- Ability to work at the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center Network Operations Center
- Ability to work a weekend rotation and provide evening and out-of-hours support when required
- Occasional travel may be required
- Ability to work 40 hours per week
