About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a lead technical expert and Subject Matter Expert within the Service Assurance Tier 3 team
  • Provide specialized support for D2 technologies, including Silver Peak, VMware/Broadcom/Arista, and Cisco SD-WAN, Flexware, and Universal CPE
  • Act as a routing and connectivity SME across supported service lines
  • Manage complex and critical customer network outages, triage issues, isolate root causes, and minimize service impact
  • Translate technical findings into clear communications for internal engineers and customers
  • Mentor GT3 peers, Service Assurance teams, and LCM/LE resources
  • Develop and deliver training materials and documentation for GCSC and GT3 teams
  • Manage complex, long-duration issues and technical escalations
  • Plan and lead projects from initiation to completion, including scope, schedule, resources, risks, quality, and stakeholder communications
  • Integrate and support new technology platforms, including developing, testing, training, and creating methods and procedures
  • Collaborate with CTO partners in Agile/DevOps environments and review and sign off on CTO designs
  • Resolve complex network issues, lead critical outage restoration and root cause analysis, and drive problem management initiatives
  • Develop custom tools, network performance metrics, and network automation
  • Lead critical, high-impact projects and design and implement innovative business strategies
  • Consult senior leadership, influence executive decisions, mentor others, and work with minimal oversight
  • Guide cross-functional teams in technology insertion and root cause analysis, manage vendor relationships, and ensure network health through advanced analytics

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Expert-level experience in enterprise networking, SD-WAN technologies, network security, and advanced troubleshooting within large-scale, mission-critical environments
  • Advanced knowledge of enterprise routing, switching, and network architecture design
  • Expert-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis across complex WAN, LAN, Wireless, Security, Cloud, and SD-WAN environments
  • Extensive experience with Cisco Routing and Switching Platforms, Cisco Nexus Data Center Switching, Cisco Wireless Infrastructure, Cisco ASA Firewalls, Juniper Networks Routing and Switching Solutions, Riverbed WAN Optimization Technologies, Aruba EdgeConnect (Silver Peak) SD-WAN, and VMware VeloCloud SD-WAN
  • Knowledge of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP
  • Experience with IPSec VPN design, implementation, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with LAN/WAN connectivity and optimization
  • Knowledge of network segmentation, redundancy, and high-availability architectures
  • Experience with performance monitoring, capacity planning, and proactive network optimization
  • Deep understanding of enterprise security architectures and best practices
  • Experience implementing and supporting NGFW, Zero Trust Network Architectures, SASE, NAC, IDS/IPS, DNS Security, DDoS Protection, MFA, PKI, Secure Remote Access Technologies, Cloud Security Controls, and SIEM platforms
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ASA and Firepower, Palo Alto Networks Firewalls, and Cisco ISE
  • Experience supporting compliance and security frameworks including NIST, CIS Controls, FedRAMP, FISMA, and DoD Security Requirements
  • Strong understanding of WAN transport technologies including MPLS, DIA, Broadband, Ethernet, Fiber, LTE/5G Wireless, Satellite Communications, and Private and Hybrid Network Solutions
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Experience supporting Federal Government, Defense, Intelligence Community, or highly regulated environments is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex network incidents, escalations, and service restoration efforts
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed enterprise and government environments
  • Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and customer-facing skills
  • Proven ability to serve as a technical leader and mentor for network engineering and operations teams
  • Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments
  • Experience with software-defined networking, virtualization, containerization, CI/CD pipelines for automation, custom tool creation, and advanced data analytics
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) desired
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Certification is required in some areas
