About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Engineer, deploy, configure, and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments
- Manage Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 operating systems
- Perform server builds, provisioning, decommissioning, and lifecycle management
- Maintain server standards, hardening guidelines, and operational procedures
- Support physical, virtual, and cloud-based Windows infrastructure
- Plan, schedule, and execute operating system patching
- Coordinate maintenance windows with application and business stakeholders
- Remediate security vulnerabilities and ensure regulatory compliance
- Produce patching compliance metrics and executive-level reporting
- Lead Windows Server upgrade and migration initiatives
- Develop migration strategies, impact assessments, and compatibility analyses
- Coordinate application validation and testing
- Install and maintain infrastructure software agents and management tools
- Develop automated software deployment processes
- Develop PowerShell, DSC, Ansible, and infrastructure-as-code automation
- Automate operational tasks and create self-service capabilities
- Monitor and analyze server performance, capacity, and bottlenecks
- Perform root cause analysis and optimize operating system configurations
- Maintain Windows Server asset inventory and track licensing compliance
- Support audits and compliance reviews
- Implement security baselines and administer Active Directory and Group Policy
- Participate in security incident response and remediation
- Provide Level 3 engineering support for critical incidents
- Participate in outage investigations and develop corrective actions
- Support after-hours maintenance and incident response when required
- Maintain architecture diagrams, operational documentation, procedures, and technical runbooks
- Create dashboards and report on patch compliance, server health, vulnerabilities, and lifecycle metrics
- Collaborate with application owners, security, storage, virtualization, cloud, and operations teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of Windows Server administration experience in a large enterprise environment
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
- Experience with Active Directory
- Experience with Group Policy
- PowerShell scripting experience
- Experience with Microsoft IIS
- Experience with Windows Failover Clustering
- Experience with DNS and DHCP
- Experience with enterprise patching solutions
- Experience supporting virtualized environments using VMware or Hyper-V
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Experience managing infrastructure in regulated environments
- Microsoft certifications (AZ-800, AZ-801, Azure Administrator, etc.) preferred
- Preferred experience with Azure, AWS, SCCM / MECM, Tanium, ServiceNow, Splunk, Dynatrace, SolarWinds, Ansible, and Terraform
- Experience with infrastructure security and vulnerability management programs preferred
- Experience supporting large-scale environments consisting of hundreds or thousands of servers preferred
- Familiarity with disaster recovery and business continuity processes preferred
- Position requires office presence a minimum of 5 days per week
- No relocation is offered
