About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive the design direction, optimization, and scaling of next-generation Residential Gateway products
  • Serve as the technical authority for embedded firmware and the wireless stack
  • Own the Linux wireless architecture and scale the platform for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 capabilities
  • Profile and optimize OS memory and CPU management using perf, Valgrind, and kernel utilities
  • Architect and implement Python-based automated testing and unit testing frameworks
  • Design, configure, and optimize wireless features using hostapd, wpa_supplicant, and iw
  • Architect, develop, and maintain high-performance C and C++ firmware across gateway hardware platforms
  • Maintain hardware-agnostic implementations across carrier-grade SoCs using prpl APIs
  • Develop and maintain scalable IPC services using ubus and/or iMTP
  • Design and troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 network stacks, including routing, bridging, and packet forwarding
  • Implement and maintain TR-181 data models and USP/TR-369 service models
  • Configure and manage containerized microservices and virtual execution environments using Docker and prpl LCM
  • Manage source code, branching strategies, and firmware release pipelines using Git

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of hands-on embedded firmware development experience in the telecom, networking, or residential gateway industries
  • High proficiency in C and modern C++ programming within resource-constrained embedded systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Embedded Linux development within OpenWrt or prplOS ecosystems
  • Deep, production-level expertise with TR-181 data models and USP (TR-369)
  • Experience deploying, isolating, and configuring containerized microservices using Docker and lifecycle tools like prpl LCM
  • Deep knowledge of the Linux Wireless stack, including hostapd, wpa_supplicant, iw, and Linux wireless drivers
  • Deep understanding of Layer 2/3 networking and core routing/bridging concepts
  • Hands-on experience with Linux profiling and debugging tools, specifically perf and Valgrind
  • Strong expertise managing source code and branching strategies via Git
  • Experience implementing, configuring, or debugging Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 features
  • Proficiency in Python for automated test scripts, hardware validation, or test execution
  • Experience building or maintaining unit testing frameworks (e.g., CUnit, Unity, PyTest) in an embedded context
  • Familiarity with OpenWrt ubus and message bus architectures like iMTP
  • Experience developing abstraction layers on Broadcom or MaxLinear residential gateway SoCs
